Angry Birds Go! will be released on December 11th. Hopefully Caterham will announce Heikki as their lead driver, as the potential sponsorship from Rovio will bring some competing money to the struggling Formula 1 team. The tie-in is unbelievable!
But keep in mind... This is just speculation and hopeful thinking.
The game adds a new dimension to the Angry Birds series, which has until now been solely two-dimensional. Racing in the 3D world of Angry Birds Go! will be a free-to-play experience. Users will have the option of upgrading their racing carts, although Rovio has not detailed whether that too will be free. The game will also be compatible with telepods, the scannable physical toys that debuted with !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! last year.

Money talks. He was a real driver, not a pay driver, and they needed the funds the Pic and VDG brought to the team. They kept him as a test driver for when they needed to get shit done.

right, it must be a balancing act for them, I guess if Heikki gets a run again he'll have to hit 12th to start getting a share of the prize money. (I think they estimate 11th and 12th to be worth $10million for the team)
His best result for Caterham or Team Lotus was 13th, so I can imagine why they needed to go for a pay driver.
